World News Correspondents

World news is the term used in the media for a wide variety of international topics, such as wars or global economic issues. This category of journalism is generally distinct from national or domestic news, which are considered to be the responsibility of the nation-state’s press. However, in some cases, the boundaries between this category and other types of news coverage are blurred, such as during the reporting of international events, such as summits of multilateral organizations or wars that affect more than one nation-state.

Correspondents who specialize in world news typically write stories about a specific region or country and file them to their news editor on a regular basis. Often, they are based in a major city and get information from officials and other sources in the local community as well as through their own observations. They also may have the ability to travel to other locations in their region to gather additional information.
